“Dear Helping Hands of Putnam County,

Earlier this year, my wife and I were struggling. I was out of work, and she was working two jobs while finishing her degree. We barely had enough to make ends meet, and often found we were cutting our food budget to pay our bills. We came to you in desperation, hoping you could provide us with enough for us to get by a little longer.  To our great relief, you did just that. Thank you.

You also came through for us again a few weeks later when we needed a few more items to get by.  It was not as large a load as the first one, but it helped quite a lot and took some of the financial strain off of us.  Again, thank you.

I now have a good job and have enough to make ends meet and pay a mortgage.  In return for your help, we would like to make a donation.  It’s not much now, but we hope to make larger donations in the near future.  It is our hope that through our donations, we can help you help others to stay on their feet during their times of difficulty.

Thank you for all that you did for us.  It really helped us keep our heads above water.”

"Helping Hands helped me when our house burned to the ground. Without the help of the people who donate to Helping Hands, I don't know how my family and I would have made it."

"When my husband was diagnosed with cancer, we didn't know how we would be able to handle all of our regular bills, let alone the cost of treatment. With the help of Helping Hands we were able to survive a really bad time."

"When I was out of work and down and out, Helping Hands was a Godsend, helping to make sure my family had food on the table."

"I'd almost given up: you've been so kind. I came in here looking for a little help with my water bill, and you've given me hope to continue on."
